Kathleen Elizabeth Speltz

Kathleen E. Speltz, 84, of Rollingstone, MN, died Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at St. Anne Extended Healthcare in Winona, MN.
Kathleen was born on November 1, 1922 in Rollingstone, MN to Alvin and Margaret (Feil) Herber. She graduated from Holy Trinity Catholic School in 1941 and later attended Winona Business College. Kathleen worked for the auditor at the courthouse in Winona for several years. On April 17, 1948, she married Herbert Francis Speltz at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rollingstone. Together they farmed and raised their nine children. Kathleen was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, St. Teresa's Society, and Holy Trinity Ladies Aide. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, canning, scrapbooking, crossword puzzles, was an excellent cookie maker, and avid Minnesota Twins fan. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Kathleen is survived by her husband of 59 years, Herbert, nine children, Mary Ballard (Jim Peterson) of Winona, MN; Kelly (Carloyn) Speltz of Minnesota City, MN; Richard (Ann) Speltz of Rollingstone, MN; Gene (Phyllis) Speltz of Eyota, MN; Rose (Greg) Cada of Winona, MN; Perry Speltz (Carla Meier) of Winona, MN; Paul (Brenda) Speltz of Rollingstone, MN; Sara (Rick) Pappenfuss of Goodview, MN; and Kris (Carol) Speltz of Minnesota City, MN, 19 grandchildren, Jessica and Rebecca Ballard; Mark (Jennifer) Speltz and Jenny (Corey) Grebin; Hollie Speltz (Matt Korger); Emily Speltz (Carey Tweeten), Lindsay and Todd Speltz; Sam and Shane Cada; Hana Heinlen and Dylan Speltz; Nikayla and Madison Speltz; Ryan, Danielle, and Cody Papenfuss; Tyler and Jadyn Speltz, 3 great-grandchildren, Tyrus and Kate Grebin, and Peyton Speltz, 2 brothers, twin Ralph (Dorothy) Herber of Rollingstone, MN, Harold (Marlene) Herber of Rollingstone, MN, a sister Harriette Duffy of Winona, MN, a sister-in-law Corrine Herber of Santa Monica, CA, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Prosper Herber, sister Maxine Kotnour, and 2 brother-in-laws.
The Funeral Mass for Kathleen is scheduled for Friday, May 18, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rollingstone with The Reverend Donald Lovas and Reverend Roy Literski co-officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8pm on Thursday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rollingstone, with a Prayer Service at 4:00pm. Hoff Funeral Home - St. Charles Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
