RUSHFORD, MINN. - Beverly A. Johnson, 76, of Rushford died on Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse, Wis.
She was born on January 22, 1931, in LaCrosse, Wis. to Arnold and Anna (Lord) Flatten. Beverly was raised in Yucatan Valley of Houston County. She attended Yucatan Country School, graduated from Houston High School, and Winona Teacher's College. Beverly taught in the Yucatan Country Schools and in Spring Grove for a total of eight years. She also worked as a substitute teacher for the Rushford School District. Beverly married Donald LeVerne Johnson on February 23, 1957, at Rushford Lutheran Church. Beverly worked as a receptionist and secretary for SEMCAC in Rushford for 23 years. She became the face of Norsland Lefse in Rushford where she worked for the past 10 years. Beverly was a very active member of Rushford Lutheran Church for 50 years, where she served on the church council, WELCA, circle, taught Sunday school, and was the current Thrivent Coordinator for her church. She was a past Boy Scout den mother, and Girl Scout leader. Beverly enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, cooking, and baking. She loved being a homemaker, but above all else, she loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by one son: Mark (Carolyn) Johnson of Rushford, Minn.; four daughters: Jacqueline (fiancé, Joe Werner) Kjos of Galena, Ill., Christi (Scott) James of Byron, Minn., Brenda (Tom) Crews of Loveland, Colorado, and Michelle (Steven) Larson of Rochester, Minn.; eight grandchildren: Justin, Cassie, Paige, Haley, Hannah, Marshall, Tommy, and McKenna; and two great-grandchildren: Bryce and Tucker.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983, parents, one brother, Donald, and infant sister, Jean.
There will be a memorial service for Beverly at 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2007, at Rushford Lutheran Church with the Rev. Roger Michaelson officiating. Burial of her cremated body will be in the Stone Church Cemetery in Houston, Minn. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at Hoff Funeral Homes - Rushford Chapel.
