In loving memory of

Kathleen Barr Dahnke
November 5, 1923 - January 18, 2005

The angles wrapped their arms around our mother and quietly took her up to heaven on Tuesday, January 18, 2005. She is at peace, reunited with her loved ones.
Kathleen, daughter of John and June Milan Kopf was born on November 5, 1923 and raised in Chicago, IL. She married Edward Barr on May 15, 1948 in Chicago. He preceded her in death in Richland Center, WI on January 10, 1963.
She raised six children moving from Chicago to Goshen, IN, Richland Center, WI and Rib Lake, WI. She also lived in Menomonee, WI, Glencoe, MN and finally Winona, MN.
In Richland Center Kay met her soul mate, Bob Dahnke and they were married on December 6, 1966 in Madison, WI. He preceded her in death in Winona on June 6, 1992.
Kay was a devout Catholic and a hard working woman. She became a widow at age 39 and raised her six children ages 2-12. She loved working at JC Penny's in Richland Center and always had a special talent for clothing, fashion and design. She loved her "Card Club", playing and watching golf, gourmet cooking and following the Green Bay Packers. Kay enjoyed her pets, reading and anything about decorating. She was an avid volunteer at schools her children attended and was once a Girl Scout leader. She loved her volunteer work at the hospital gift shop and most of all, Kay loved her children. She was never happier than when they were all around her. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her children, Kathy Gueldenzopf of Racine, WI, Edward "Ted" Barr of Eau Claire, WI, Gabriel (Rowlett) Bryant of Panama City, FL, John (Fran) Barr, Oregon, WI, Robert Barr, Marathon, FL and Sarah (Terry) Siebenaler, Altura, MN; grandchildren, Alex Gueldenzopf, Rachel and Rebecca Barr, Sarah (Travis) Coy and Liz and Jake Siebenaler; and great grandchildren, Alex and Katie Coy. She was preceded in death by three sisters, June, Mary and Valentine.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2005 at 11:00am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rollingstone, MN. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery at Oak Ridge. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Hoff Funeral Homes ? Burke Winona Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.

"My mother ranked your Mom as one of her all time best friends. She always had a ready smile & was very friendly. I also have fond memories of your Mom having us over for Sunday brunch at your home. My Mom always had a good time with Mom. Your Mom always made us feel welcome."

"Kathy, I was saddened to hear of your mother's death. I have memories of countless Sunday brunches at your house in Richland Center after church. Robert Goulet playing on the stereo and my mom and Kay enjoying a fogbuster. My mom (Jane)speaks of your mother often. Mary"

"I'm saddened to hear about Kay's passing. She was a very dear friend of mine when we both lived in Richland Center. Sunday brunches at Kay's, where she and I had a fogbuster with all of the kids in the other room. Kay made life in Wisconsin more than bearable for me. I will never forget her "flair" and the world is a less happy place with her gone. Jane Paulsen"
