Angelyn R. Gilchrist, 103, passed away January 12, 2016 in Ames. Angelyn was born September 11, 1912 in Hamilton County to Rasmus O. Braland and Anna Johnson. After moving to Ames, she worked for a period of time in the Home Economics Department at Iowa State University. On September 30, 1949 she married Donald M. Gilchrist. Angelyn was preceded in death by her husband in 2006, her parents, one brother (Harris), and one sister (Opal McCandless.) She is survived by her daughter Donna of St. Peters, MO, two nieces and two nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

"Angie will be missed. She always had a smile and a laugh. First met Angie at Hymn sing that we had every Wednesday at Riverside South. And she was smiling and talking in language that we did not understand and thought she did not either. Well it was norweigian she was speaking. She often would sing in that language and we would listen. She would tell me she loved me in that language and I would tease her that maybe she was saying something else and then we would both laugh. We will miss her greatly. Heartland Baptist. Betty Donna and me."
