"John and Joyce, next door neighbors for many years and friends for so much longer. Four Johns and two Joyces living side by side.. slightly confusing when one was called. Lots of memories when our kids were growing up. Nothing beats a cold Coors Light after shoveling snow late nights. While he loved hunting and fishing, neither came close to the love and pride he had for his family. "Johnny" Clayton touched the lives of so many people in a positive way. May God bless and keep you forever, our FRIEND."

"John was a very unique person to say the least. His mechanical knowledge was second to none. We first met over 30 years ago when I, at that time, was working for a local Auto Parts Store in Toms River and as they say the rest was history. It was an immediate friendship that I will never forget. At times I would drop in at his shop just to talk, kid around, and enjoy his company. I will always remember his smile as it has never changed as this is how he greeted everyone. He leaves behind a huge void in many lives but at the same time I have been Blessed to have crossed paths in my life with this man who I will miss greatly. My prayers to his entire family and to John, God Bless You and may he keep you in HIS Easy Yoke always and forever."
"I remember the time he and Joyce came to my class on visit the school night. He came in late and I told him he was late and had to pay a quarter. He laughed and gave me a dollar to put towards the girls bowling team."
"John was my mechanic for over 25 years, yet he was way more than that to me. We spoke of fishing, hunting, and life and sometimes we fixed the cars. He was always ready to take off into the woods to help me track deer, even in the worst of conditions. A true friend and I will miss him greatly. God bless John."
"There is WAY TOO MANY to list dad. From sitting around drinking beer and eating clams to an all day adventure in NYC to see Def Leppard. I cherished every moment that we spent together. We meant the world to you and you meant the world to us. I know your enjoying a nice cold beer looking down protecting us. I love you."
