Joseph David Weber passed away May 27, 2016 after a long illness. He is survived by his wife Janice Faurot, his sister Rita Weber and his step mother Jodi Weber.
His strong presence and dedicated values were steadfast throughout his life. Joseph's long career on the Miami Beach Police Department brought him great pride and honor. His quick wit and sarcastic nature was always present and his protective and tough exterior encompassed a thoughtful and generous heart.
He was a dependable and unwavering provider for his family, one of a kind, deeply loved and will be deeply missed.

"You always were in for a treat if you worked a shift with Joe. You never knew what he was going to say. I hated doing accidents and Joe would always come by and bust my chops for a few minutes before completing it for me. Great guy and he will be missed."

"Joe was a beloved mentor and partner on the third platoon, we went to so many different calls together. He taught me so much and was a standup gentleman with compassion for everyone. We also had many dinners together in nearly every restaurant in the city. It was a blast knowing Joe. I will never ever forget him. ๐?'"๐?'"๐?'""

"Joe was a consummate gentleman. I had the privilege of working a few cases in which I relied upon his expertise. There is one case in particular in which an elderly woman, clearly confused and really not fit to be behind the wheel, was very kindly referred to a medical examination to determine her continued fitness for driving. There were a multitude of offenses that an officer would've just piled on. Joe didn't do that. One ticket; one medical referral. Joe explained to me then that you don't go so much by the book as a cop, but by the heart. He reminded me to always have compassion for people. That has stuck with me to this day. Thank you, Joe."

"Tommy Moran
Leo and Joe were very dry, but very funny guys. Lots of stories of them, but the one that sticks out is one day they send me to the middle zone and I am a south end guy, who liked the action. So I was bored and went out on the Julia Tuttle and find a nice spot under some trees to read the Herald. Before I knew it, my head was touching the Herald which was saturated in drool. I looked around and found my police vehicle surrounded with burning flares. Apparently an FHP trooper saw me slumped over the steering wheel and stopped Leo and asked him to check out his fellow MBPD officer to see if I was dead. Instead of waking me up, Leo got Joe involved and put burning flares around my car. This was in the day time. Imagine today, civilians passing a marked patrol car with the cop asleep behind the wheel, with burning flares surrounding the car. I don't think I would have reached retirement had it been today. Those Weber Boys were funny and very good guys. I will miss them both."

"RIP! Joe. So sorry for your loss, Jan and the rest of the Weber family. Joe is unforgettable. He was a master at using his incredible sense of humor to get his point across loud and clear. He taught us all many lessons, not just about AIU, but how to be a good friend and colleague. I am grateful for the time I spent with him on afternoon shift. He will be missed by many! "

"I remembered responding to an accident on 63 St and Indian Creek as a rookie officer and attempting to draw the complicated intersection. Joe showed up as he seldom stop by most accident scenes to offer assistance or complete the report. He watched me struggle with the drawing before offering pre-drawn copies of the intersection to me and also took over and complete the report. Thank you for all of your teachings and my you Rest In Peace Joe!"

"I was never afraid of Joe, when I became a Police Officer. I do remember every time I backed him up at an accident, he would immediately look at me, yell out "hey rookie" (even though he knew my name), hand me his ticket book and say "write my tickets". This went on for a while, it got to the point that he just handed me his ticket book. I will never forgot how he laughed the day a new recruit class started; true to point he handed me his ticket book and I turned to the new guy and said "hey rookie, right Officer Weber's tickets". He was a great man, and a great cop and I was lucky to have had the opportunity to first dispatch to him and later work beside him. RIP my friend. "

"During my police academy they had a two week block where you came and rode with the Officers. My first was Leo on days and second Joe on afternoons. One attempted to put their cigar out on my pants, the other his cigarette. Joe would bust your chops constantly but you knew he was doing all in fun, to keep things loose. When I went and hit a parked car at 6th Street And Ocean Dr., Joe came down to handle the accident. Joe to get the last laugh went and got his ticket book, handed it to me and said go ahead and write yourself a ticket. Joe told me if you can give someone a ticket and leave them laughing you have done your job right. Joe you were an inspiration to all. RIP! Jan so sorry for your loss!"

"So Joe comes down to Work Miami Beach Police from Washington D.C. about a year after Leo Weber is hired and together they are working the day shift. The Roll Call Room in the old station where everyone stood at attention and given Road Patrol Assignments. Joe and Leo are told they work NORTH End and everyone leaves. About 10:00AM, the dispatcher raises Joe for a call and asks his location. He tells the Dispatcher 163 Street. This goes on about 3 more minutes trying to get his location. The Captain tells them to 05 to the Station immediately. Apparently coming from Washington D.C. no one told them North Zone ended at 87th Street. They just thought it was all Miami Beach lol. A great friend and colleague and many years of enjoyable memories. Jan we wish you well and Joe left a lasting impression on everyone he met."
