Eva Marie Olson

Eva Marie Olson age 90, of Ames, died June 3, 2016 in Madison, WI. A visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, at First United Methodist Church, 6th and Kellogg in Ames with an 11:00 a.m. funeral service to follow. Burial will be at Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Eva was born May 16, 1926 in between Jewell and Stanhope, on Highway 175 on the family farm, the daughter of Clifford and Esther Bailey. She graduated from Jewell High School. On May 6, 1945 she married William Olson in Jewell, Iowa. Eva was known for her Norwegian bakery specialties, Lefse, Potato Cakes, Kringle, and homemade potato salad sold through Ames Fruit and Grocery. She also baked wedding cakes. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, and in her spare time you could find cards in her hands. She and Bill enjoyed camping and the couple wintered in Arizona for several years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Ames until she moved to Madison, WI to be closer to her youngest daughter five years ago.
Eva is survived by her children, son, Jim and Vicki of Tiffin, daughter, Judy and Perry Ritland, of Zearing, daughter, Jaylene Zenke of Madison; grandchildren, Jonathan Olson, Brandon Olson, Anthony (Lilly) Olson, Joseph Ritland, Jacob Ritland, Raeann Ritland, Becky (JD) Hollingsworth, Timothy Benson, Taylor Benson, and Ryan Zenke; three great granddaughters, Lelaina, Alexandra, and Isabella Olson;
sister, Lucille Johnson of Waukee.
Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Bill in 1998, and her companion, Bud Lange in 2008.
