"My Reflections on the second man that I call Dad
I called him "ya Father" as his kids did. I called him "Dear" as Mom did. I also call him "Dad," not just because I married Bob but because he truly was a Dad to me. I know how fortunate I am. I truly feel as though God blessed me with two mothers and two fathers and for that I will forever be grateful.
Dad was unbelievably generous. Some of our most memorable moments are courtesy of him. Our annual trips to Sea Isle City and a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Ireland. I remember sitting with him at the dinner table, map spread out before us, and Dad tracing with his finger every road we planned to take, although we found when we arrived that it didn't always go as planned! Every trip together was filled with laughter and love.
Dad was stern and commanding when he needed to be. I heard stories of the dead finger or how the snap of his belt could be enough to get the point across. My personal experiences with those qualities were always sprinkled with loving concern. After our children were born he very often said, "Go! Take a nap" but, being my stubborn self, I never listened.
Dad was funny. He and I were at opposite ends of the political spectrum but had so much fun teasing each other. I can only speculate what our conversation might sound like this year - we might even agree!
Dad was also very, very loving. There was never a question about how much he loved his family and friends and he always made me feel just like I belonged.
I will miss his laughter, his beautiful smile and bright, loving eyes. My consolation is knowing and seeing his spirit live on through his children and grandchildren and knowing that I can always find him there.
His adoring daughter-in-law,
Gina"

"Uncle Bob, you were a wonderful and inspiring uncle. I am honored to have shared your very special memories of your trip to the Grand Canyon with Aunt Mary many years ago last week. Your beautiful blue eyes lit up with joy and love as you remembered and spoke the details. You will be forever in my heart and remembered always. Love you. Dolores"
