Susan Welch
July 25, 1938 - June 18, 2016

Susan Welch, of Antigo, died on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center under the care of her family and LeRoyer Hospice at the age of 77. She was born on July 25, 1938 in Milwaukee, a daughter of the late Allie and Helen (Elliot) Hintz. She married Robert Welch on June 1, 1958 in Milwaukee. The couple later divorced.

She was a graduate of Riverside High School in Milwaukee.

For 20 years she co-owned and operated Bayside Resort on Pelican Lake. Later she worked at the Wildwood Grocery Store and the Pelican Club.

In her retirement, she became an avid reader who enjoyed solving crossword puzzles. She loved knitting layettes, hats and mittens for donation. During bowling season, she came to Northstar to cheer her daughter and granddaughter's bowling team. The flowers she tended in her gardens attracted many birds for her to identify and watch.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy (Russell) Cook, Deerbrook; four sons, Mark (Jacqui) Welch, Duluth, Minn., Eric (Georgia) Welch, Elcho, Alan (Jackie) Welch, Merrill and Brian (Bonnie) Welch, Elcho; 24 grandchildren, Kristin (Jesse) Maher, Daniel (Leslie) Westerhausen, Nathan Raith, Sarah (Kane) Goerke, Faith (Jasen) Cook, Benjamin Welch, Zachary Welch, Matthew Welch, Jacob Welch, Eric (Ashley) Welch, Nikki (William) Stanley, Corey (Donna) Smith, Toby (Julie) Smith, Camille (Brandon) Sidebottom, Adam (Kelsey) Jacobs, Coral (Alex) Dziamarski, Dustin Welch, Hunter Welch, Dakoda Welch, Parker Welch, Elizabeth Welch, Johnny (Elexis) Jensen, Hunter (Taylor) Kalkofen, Hallie Kalkofen; 26 great-grandchildren, Ian, Emma, Maddy, Andrew, Hannah, Maveryk, Alec, Brock, Collin, Paige, Zoey, Emma, Cody, Haylee, Jase, Presten, Brayten, Cali, Kendall, Kenny, Brayden, Emily, Dixie, Daniella, Brantley, and Kallie; a brother, Robert (Joyce) Hintz, Chamblee, Georgia; four sisters, Carol (John) Domroes, Wauwatosa, Mary Lammert, Phoenix, Ariz., Barbara (Tim) Klug, Oshkosh, Donna Gehrke, Butler; a special cousin, Sandy Norton; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas Hintz and Charles Hintz.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday from noon until the time of services.
