A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, June 30, 2016, at St. John's Catholic Church, Bancroft. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7:30 P.M., Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at Oakcrest Funeral Services, Bancroft, with a Rosary starting at 4 P.M. and a Scripture Prayer Service at 7 P.M. Burial will be held in St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
Dennis Henry Rolling was born on September 23, 1936 in Armstrong, Iowa, the son of Peter Nicholas and Mary Elizabeth (Schmidt) Rolling. He attended St. John's Catholic School through the eighth grade and started working afterwards at Welps Feed Mill. He also worked at Droessler's Market and then at Standard Feed in Bancroft.
Dennis married Ruth Marlene Fox on December 30, 1958, at St. John's Catholic Church in Bancroft.
Dennis was an avid worker and Diet Pepsi drinker. He farmed, butchered, and made furniture as well as stone work, where he made stone walls and bird houses. For 42 years he dressed thousands of chickens. Dennis also liked to play cards like solitaire and 500, going around with his card club and he enjoyed to dance. Most of all he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Dennis H. Rolling died, Monday, June 27, 2016, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center at the age of 79.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruth Marlene Rolling; children, Shane (Kellee) Rolling of Fort Dodge, Sonja (Bill) Merron of Bancroft, Cory (Robin) Rolling of Fort Dodge, Conley (Christina) Rolling of Bancroft, Tiffany (Brian) Blocker of Bancroft, Delta Berte of Bancroft and Damon (Angie) Rolling of Bancroft; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Rita Beshey, Sister Theresa and Helena Irmiter; brother, Bernie (Connie) Rolling; sisters-in -law, Alice Rolling, Deb Rolling, Marian Rolling and Helen Rolling; brothers-in-law, Denny Eckerman, Gene Yetmar; as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Edward Berte; siblings, Charles (Joan) Rolling, Pat (Dorothy) Rolling, Joe Rolling, Dorothy Eckerman, John Rolling, Jim Rolling, Mike (Velma) Rolling, Marcella Yetmar, Frank Rolling, Bernadette Spangler.
