Nona Elaine (Griffin) Duch, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on July 2, 2016 at the age of 89.
Nona was born on July 3, 1926 in Madison, Wisconsin, the only daughter of Elaine and Burl Griffin.
Her greatest treasure was her family and eagerly looked forward to each birth, wedding, and countless celebrations.
She was a professional office manager during her working career. She was an active member of the Madison Chapter of American Business Women's Association, serving as President. Nona took pleasure in serving on the reunion committee for the "Class of 43" West High School for many years.
Nona is survived by 4 sons and 3 daughters, Barry (Janet), Alan (Carol), Gene (Kathy), Brian, Judy, Janice, and Tammy (Bryan), daughter-in-law Patricia Duch, 18 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and special cousins. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Elaine and Burl Griffin, step-father Harold White, and her loving son Steven Duch.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary's Care Center, Home Health United Hospice, and Kelly Wisch of Dean Clinic for their compassionate care given to mom during her illness.
"A mother is a blessing so gentle, kind, and wise, the first to give encouragement, the last to criticize. The one you know will be there whenever skies are gray. The first to lend a helping hand, the last to turn away - each special thing about her, is so lovely to recall - a mother is a blessing, the most precious one of all. In her cheeks, fair roses you see; God made a wonderful mother; and He gave that mother to me."
We love you mom always and forever. Our shoes are by the door!
To honor Nona's wishes, private funeral services were held.

"We read with sadness of the passing of Nona. We served many years with her in ABWA Madison Chapter. She was always a leader and a gentle voice of reason when difficult decisions were called for. She worked very hard at our bazaars and other fund raisers. She will truly be missed. June and Ruth Paynter"
