Mary "Deloris" Stevens
April 19, 1933 - July 5, 2016

Mary "Deloris" Stevens, age 83 of Huxley, formerly of Story City, died Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Mary Greeley Medical Center. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be 10:00 am, Saturday, July 9 at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way, Ames with inurnment to follow at Story City Cemetery, Story City, Iowa.
Deloris was born in Cherokee, Iowa to loving parents Alfred F. and Mary F. Hanson. She came into this world on April 19, 1933 during the spring planting season and from that day forward she was a farm girl. She was joined over the years by a sister Bonnie, and three brothers, Larry, Jack, and Jim.
She met her mate while still in high school and was joined into marriage on June 28, 1951 to George M. Stevens, Jr. To this union they were blessed by four children.
She was proceeded in death by her husband George; a son, Douglas; a brother, Jack; and her parents. She leaves to mourn; daughters, Mary Jo (Dwayne), Cheryl; son, Wayne (Barb) Stevens; daughter-in-law Kathy Casperson; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; brothers, Larry (Cyndy) Hanson, Jim (Linda) Hanson; sister Bonnie (Roy) Rupp; and sister-in-law, Sue Hanson.
Deloris, as she was known, spent her quiet time writing poetry, sketching, writing children's stories, and keeping in touch with life time friend Joan Granger, pen pal of England, for over 60 years.
