"We were deeply saddened to hear of Brian's passing. Brian served as a board member on the nonprofit that brought Christian radio to Ames. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. He will no doubt be missed deeply, but I'm sure he's enjoying heaven and walking with Jesus."

"I will be out of town Saturday, so I wanted to note just a few aspects of Brian I appreciated. First, he was generous and friendly. Soon after he arrived at ISU, I had agreed to be part of a dunk tank for VEISHEA. It was a cold spring and the water was freezing. Brian offered to let me use his wet suit. Brian was probably nine inches at least taller than I am and had a larger frame, so I looked like a shrunken, toasted Michelin tire man, but the wet suit really kept me warm. Brian was also forthright! He said what he believed and he believed what he said. Brian was ahead of the curve with technology. I had no idea what BlueTooth was, when I saw Brian walking the halls quite comfortably and competently using it. He was the go-to person for information on the latest tech ideas. As a faculty member, I am very grateful to Brian for his staunch advocacy for students, faculty, and staff and his efforts to make the college a better place through shared governance and a commitment to learn"

"Dr. Mennecke was on my committee. He was such a brilliant and funny guy. Always had good advice not just towards my thesis but life in general."

"Dear Dr. Mennecke, I was one of your many students in the MBA program where I learned so much during the two years. It still is a complete shock to me and my classmates to see this tragedy take place, but my memories of the time I got to spend with you both at school and as a colleague at work are hardwired in my mind. I remember how you would refer to different TV shows and make the class feel a lot more personal and fun to be in. And your dedication to your research as well as helping students was a key influence in how you worked. I feel saddened that others going through their MBA at ISU will not have the same experience and I am so very thankful that myself and classmates got to have you as a teacher. We all miss you at ISU. "Dear Dr. Mennecke, I was fortunate enough to know you and work with you. Especially for an international student, your encouragement really meant a lot to me. I also learned a lot from you for being a good scholar and teacher. Thanks for your continuous support from Iowa State University to Michigan State University. I would not have gotten where I am today without your support and guidance. I will miss you so greatly. RIP Dr. Mennecke "
