Anita M. Vogel
December 18, 1936 - July 16, 2016

Anita Mae Vogel was born December 18, 1936 in Northboro, Iowa to Ernest John Bowenkamp, Sr. and Francis Florence Ramsey. She passed away on July 16, 2016 at the Clarinda Regional Health Center in Clarinda, Iowa.

The family lived east of Northboro. She was baptized in the Northboro Methodist Church. At the age of four, the family purchased the farm in Missouri, three miles southeast of Blanchard. She attended country school at North Prairie and High School at Blanchard. After graduation, she attended a business college for nine months in Omaha, Nebraska.

On June 19, 1955, she wed Glen Darrell Vogel at the Blanchard Methodist Church. To this union four children were born; Teresa Mae, Darrel Lee, Rodney William and Alan Lynn.

She was employed at Iowa Finance for a short time. They farmed north of Blanchard and south of Northboro before moving to the Bowenkamp farm in 1962. After the children married and left home, Anita worked for the United State Postal Service for 11 years.

Anita loved the farm and outdoors. She was active in her church and women's group. She started playing the organ for the church in the mid 60's. She adored her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Glen D. Vogel in February of 2000, parents Ernest Bowenkamp, Sr. and Francis Meyer and brother Ernie Bowenkamp and wife Lori.

Anita is survived by her four children; Teresa Jackson of Clarinda, Darrel Vogel and wife Carolyn of Shenandoah, Rodney Vogel and wife Allison of Clarinda and Alan Vogel and wife Patricia of Coin, 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.

Celebration of life funeral service will be held 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at the Coin United Methodist Church in Coin, Iowa.

Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 pm, Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah.

Burial will be held at the Elmwood Cemetery in Coin, Iowa.

Memorials may be directed to Blanchard United Methodist Church or to your local volunteer fire departments.
