Mathilda "Tillie" Anna Butson
October 25, 1919 - August 18, 2016

Mathilda "Tillie" Anna Butson, 96, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2016, at the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton. She was born on October 25, 1919, in Hardin County, Iowa, to Jacob and Etta (Saathoff) Mooi. Tillie graduated from Geneva High School. She was united in marriage to Wendell Butson on March 14, 1940, in Trenton, Missouri. Tillie was a farm wife and owned the Fabric House in Hampton. She was a member of the Hampton United Methodist Church, where she was part of the Leah Circle and was a Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Superintendent. Tillie was also a member of many different clubs and organizations including, SOS, Sew We Sew, Geneva Cemetery Society, Geneva Women's Club, Mothers Club, Bakery Ladies and various card clubs. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, playing cards, bingo, cooking for family and neighbors, traveling and wintering in Mission, Texas. Tillie was very musical and could play the clarinet, banjo, piano and organ. She even played in her parent's band from time to time. Tillie is survived by her daughter Betty (Ed) Etnier, son Donald (Roberta) Butson, daughter Mary (Marvin) Rover, grandchildren Kurt (Kim) Hirth, Kory (Ann) Hirth, Jennifer (Troy) Teske, Jake (Sara) Butson, John (Shelley) Rover and Jody (Justin) Carr, great-grandchildren Kathryn Hirth, Amanda Hirth, Mason Teske, Madison Teske, Jenna Rover, Kayla Rover, Hudson Carr, Hayden Carr and Declan Butson. She was preceded in death by her husband Wendell, parents Jacob and Etta, parents-in-law Joe and Wava Butson, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
