Nancy Theresa Fricano
June 7, 1939 - September 20, 2016

Nancy T. Fricano, 77, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday evening, September 20, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, Iowa.

A mass celebrating Nancy's life will be held at 9 A.M., Saturday, September 24, 2016 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa. There is no visitation and burial will be at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family. A memorial service in Texas will be planned for a future date.

Nancy Theresa Forst was born on June 7, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois to Louis and Helen (Nemecek) Forst. She grew up in Illinois and graduated from Mary Queen of Heaven High School. She married Edward Kwedlo in Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1966. She married Paul Fricano in 1967 in Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1997.

Nancy moved to Texas in 1976 and worked for the Catholic Church as an administrative assistant/housekeeper for many years. She lastly worked for the New Life Clinic as a medical biller until retirement. She moved to Maquoketa, Iowa in 2011.

Nancy was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa. She also was a Carmelite with the Mount Carmel Convent. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, watching Jeopardy and cooking. A family favorite was her famous fruit dumplings. Nancy will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, compassion and love for family and friends.

Those left to honor Nancy's memory include her children, Daniel Fricano of Dallas, TX, Paul (Brandi) Fricano of Spicewood, TX, Charles (Dawn) Fricano of Kerrville, TX, Michael (Isa) Fricano of Leander, TX, and Margaret Fricano (Alan) Traverse of Maquoketa, IA; step-children, Tony (Linda) Fricano and Brenda Perotti; 10 grandchildren, Brent, Sarah, Carley, Cade, Nathan, Layne, Iliana, Audrey, Sofia, and TJ; a sister Janet Plonis of Plainfield, IL; a niece Christine Ohse; a nephew Theodore Plonis; and a beloved special aunt Lillian Hevrdejs. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward, and her husband Paul.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Nancy T. Fricano memorial fund has been established.

"I remember having lots of laughs and good times at Aunt Lil and Uncle Otto's house when we were children. We were only six months apart in age. My brother, Les, and I were niece and nephew on Uncle Otto's side, but when we got together, we were all cousins. I saw Nancy last year at Aunt Lil's, and she was the same warm, funny, loving person she always was God bless you, Nancy.."
