"Growing up in the same neighborhood, John became one of my good childhood friends. I think we met through soccer when we were about 6, but we were always riding our bikes around, playing Nintendo, or playing football in the field at the Lutheran church. Over the years, I got to know his parents, Chris and Dennis, who were always very welcoming the many times I was over at their home. Sometime after college, I ran into John and told him about playing pickup hockey games at Elver and Westmorland Park...not long after that he was one of the better players in the McFarland Friday night league and was also playing in a Sun Prairie league; everyone thought he was the nicest guy and great to talk to. I feel fortunate that I was able to re-kindle a childhood friendship through hockey, fantasy football, watching the Packers, or sharing some beer and pizza while watching a Badger game. John's willingness to help others was a trait everyone around him knew; he helped me with a tiling project on my home. Perhaps the best example of the person John was is how great of a son he was, particularly over the last 12 years for his mother, Chris. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. "

"John was one of my best friends. We spent a lot of time together. I didn't want to believe this happened and still am trying to. John and I had so much respect for each other. A friend that can't be explained in words. I miss him so much. I can't believe he won't be there to answer my call at one in the morning about something serious or ridiculous. This picture is the typical ending to one of our nights hanging out. We always had fun together. I want to thank Chris and Dennis also for making me feel a part of their family as they treated me as such. Life will never be the same without John. "

Thank you for the great memories at work, weekends boating, our wedding, and every other occasion. Our thoughts go to the family and everyone who was lucky enough to know John. You will be greatly missed!
Love your friends,

"Got to be friends with John through hockey five years ago. He loved hockey and was respected by the guys in the league. He was a nice, kind, fun guy. Took him up north on golfing and fishing trips to my cabin several times over the years, great memories. He called me up last summer and asked if my kids would like to go boating for the day, and they had a blast. That kind of guy. Will miss you John."

"I'm so sorry to hear about John. I moved here from Pittsburgh four years ago and John is one of the first friends I made here. We played hockey together. We went camping together. We went out on his boat. Golfed together. He was there for me when I turned forty. What a great guy. I don't know anybody here who was a better person then him. I will miss him and I'm sad he is gone. All my love to all who knew him. "

"My thoughts and prayers go out to John's family. We graduated HS together and were neighbors all throughout HS. We don't have a ton of memories together, but from the time I did spend with him, I knew he was such a fun and sweet person. Rest in Peace, John. "

"One of the few genuine and rare people that you can call friend.
Whether it had been a day or a year since last seeing him you could expect a hug and a smile as if no time had passed at all. So many great memories during the far too short amount of time spent with him. John will be missed by all who had the pleasure of being in his company but will never be forgotten."
