Richard Voxbrunner
January 30, 1930 - September 20, 2016

Richard Voxbrunner, age 86, from Sarasota, Florida passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 20, 2016. Richard was the only child of Anna Auer Voxbrunner and was born in 1930 in the small Bavarian town of Landau an der Isar in Southern Germany. Richard attended trade school in Germany to become a tool and die maker. At age 21, he migrated to the United States of America aboard the U.S.S. Washington and arrived at Ellis Island on July 2, 1951. He married Evelyn Yetman of Bristol Connecticut and had two children from that marriage, Claudia Anne Voxbrunner Shumate who predeceased him on May 27, 1974 and Richard Alan Voxbrunner of Miamisburg, Ohio. He then married Donna Gose Kurtz Voxbrunner, who had two children from a prior marriage, Karen Kurtz Florea of Middletown, Ohio and Charles Randolph Kurtz who predeceased him on November 9, 2009. Richard and Donna had two children, Gregory Voxbrunner, who predeceased him on July 1, 2012 and Rita Voxbrunner Salinas of Sarasota, Florida.

Richard was an exceptional and accomplished tool and tie maker and retired from Dayton Reliable Tool Co. in the 1990's. Prior to retiring, Richard was proudly promoted to the position of Geschaftsfuhrer and was transferred to Germany where he and was instrumental in helping design, build, staff and start a successful subsidiary of Dayton Reliable Tool in Braunschweig, Germany. Upon completing his task in Germany, Richard retired and relocated to Sarasota, Florida, where he resided until his death. Prior to retiring, Richard resided in the Dayton, Ohio area and was a former Vice President and lifetime member of the Dayton Liederkranz-Turner, a club devoted to promoting and preserving German culture and traditions. Richard particularly enjoyed his participation in the Choir, and enjoyed singing throughout his lifetime.

Richard was a devoted husband and a kind and caring father. He had a beautiful voice, a warm heart and a gentle soul and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. In addition to his children identified above, Richard is survived by his daughter-in-law Karen Voxbrunner of Miamisburg, Ohio and son-in-law Rene Salinas of Sarasota, Florida and his gandchildren Aaron and Jeremy Florea, Eric and Monica Kurtz and Angie Voxbrunner Pederson; as well as great grandchildren Scott Florea, Alethea and Elijah Florea and Norah and Naomi Voxbrunner Pederson.

At the request of the family, there will be no public service. Richard will be interned at Woodside Cemetery in Middletown, Ohio at a later date.
