Eleanor Ruth Griffore

Eleanor Ruth Bonin passed away December 30, 2000 at IHS in Seattle, WA after moving to Seattle in 1989. She was born Feb. 9, 1911 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Howard W. and Lottie E. McKelvy Bonin. She received her nursing diploma from Pittsburgh?s West Penn Hospital and married her husband, Gerald Cyrile Griffore in Chicago while continuing her post-graduate nursing studies in pediatrics. The couple moved to his home in Saginaw, Michigan, where Eleanor continued a long career in nursing. She was past president of registered professional private duty nurses of Saginaw, Michigan's District Nurses Association and was an active member of Dr. Abraham A. Low's Recovery Inc. Eleanor was a member of the First Congregational Church, where she sang in their choir and St. Stephens Church Choir as well. Eleanor also enjoyed being a Saginaw area duplicate Bridge Member. Preceded in death by her husband, Gerald and their infant son, Gerald Cyrile Griffore, Jr. Survived by her daughter, Celia Weiss-Nicks and spouse, Walter B. Nicks; grandchildren, Martha Weiss and Matthew Weiss; great grandchildren, Adam and Charlotte Weiss, all of Seattle and sister, Bernice Budd of Unity, PA. Also surviving are four sisters-in-law: Mrs. Anthony Brogger, Mrs. Isabelle Markey-Hozeska and Mrs. Bonnie Griffore, all of Saginaw, and Mrs. Joe Brogger of Kalamazoo, MI; and over twenty nieces and nephews. Remembrances may be made to St. Stephen Catholic Church or WAMI Washington Advocates for the Mentally Ill 802 NW 70th St., Seattle, WA 98117-5135. Visitation on Thursday; funeral service Fri., Jan. 5th at 11:30AM at Deisler?s Funeral Home in Saginaw. Hank Messing, pastor at St. Stephen Catholic Church officiating. Entombment at Mt. Olivet Mausoleum with her husband, Gerald.
