Astrid Pauline Norman
September 2, 1928 - November 20, 2014

Astrid Norman (Ellingsen) died peacefully at Martha and Mary Long Term Care on November 20th in Poulsbo WA at the age of 86.

Astrid is survived by her children, Fred Norman, Julie Anderson-Lumsden (John), Martina Norman-Maleski (Dean), Nancy Ames, and Brian Norman (Sherri), Grandchildren Joshua Clark, Robbie Norman, Cory Clark (Irene), Sam Maleski, Carmen Som (Derek), Nick Norman, Trevor Norman, Daniel Maleski (Michi), Michelle Maleski, Shannon Maleski, Alex Norman, Gary Lumsden, Angela Ames, Emily Norman and Great Grandchildren, Sage Norman, Kaylana Norman, Adelle Maleski, Sakura Maleski, Jackson Som and Natalie Norman (3/2015) she is preceded in death by Robert Henry Norman (spouse) and Logan Abel Ames (grandson).

Astrid was born on September 2, 1928 in Seattle WA to Ragna and Ludwig Ellingsen. She married Robert Norman, in 1948. After moving with the family to Lynnwood, Washington in 1971, Astrid began working for Milwaukee Railroad, as a secretary for the next 15 years, and then later as a word processor for Snohomish County Sheriff's Department. From 1956 to 1966, Astrid and her loving husband Hank the couple welcomed 5 children into their home. Her children remember their mother as a kind, family-centered, independent, creative, hard- working mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals.

Astrid was accomplished at upholstery, gardening, art, and sewing. She was honored by the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office for her contribution to the Dare Bear program. She designed and sewed Dare Bears for the anti-drug program there. She sewed home-made quilts for each of her children. She was also the inventor of the Study Buddy laptop desk, originally designed for a disabled co-worker of Hank's, but later used as a study desk or for other hobbies, which she manufactured and sold in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and France. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and sister. She attended her grandchildren's events whenever she was able. She was a Mariner's fan and a Seahawks fan. She had many beloved pets, including dogs Goldie, Charlie Brown, Molly, Donae, Cinder and cat Martie. She loved to cook and entertain her family.

A funeral is scheduled for 1:00pm on December 13th at Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home, Tribute Center located at 11111 Aurora Ave North Seattle, WA 98133, with a reception to follow in the Celebration Hall at Washelli Funeral Home.
