Charles W. Bendokas Jr., 84, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed on to eternal life peacefully on October 16, 2002. Born March 4, 1918 in Newark, New Jersey to Charles and Ann Bendokas. Stationed early in WWII at Fort Lewis, Chuck later served as a medic during the war in the European Theater. While at Fort Lewis, Chuck met the love of his life, Elizabeth Betty, in 1942 and they married in November of 1945. They lived and loved together for 57 years. While enjoying a long and successful career in building products sales, Chuck and Betty loved and raised four children. Always ready with smile, a story, or his melodic whistle, Chuck was a friend to many. Chuck had a flair for woodworking and art and shared his paintings with his family and friends. He so loved his grandchildren and made many handmade wooden toys and boats for them. For the last year and a half of his life, he was lovingly cared for by Semida and Ray Moldovan, Pam and the staff at the Queen Hill Family Home in Bothell. He will be greatly missed by his family. Survived by his beloved wife Betty, daughter Donna, son Jeff and wife Pat, son Tim and wife Heidi, son Jon and wife Carrie, grandchildren Emily, Kazie, Ari, Andrew, Charley, Mitchell and Megan and sister Doris Jack and many nieces and nephews and friends. Funeral mass to be held 11 am Wednesday, October 23, 2002 at St. Brendan Catholic Church 10051 NE 195th, Bothell, WA 98011, with a reception following. "I remember how patient Charles was during Doll Day and all the ladies there at his house talking dolls, having lunch and making a lot of noise. He was always kind and friendly to all. He will be missed."
"Dear Mrs. Bendokas, Donna, and family, Please know that there are many who want to comfort you and realize your pain, including me. Mr. Bendokas was the ideal dad. I remember when he picked Donna and me up from a day of shopping in downtown Seattle. I know now he had worked hard all day, but I didn't then. He was cheerful, funny, and loved listening to Barbra Striesand. Mrs. Bendokas, both you and Mr. Bendokas always made me feel welcome. It was fun to see what a real family was like . . . kids going in every direction, friends over, always lots of laughter. I remember all of you fondly and know that you will comfort each other and enjoy your rich and plentiful memories of Mr. Bendokas. Anna Welsh Jacoby "
