"Thougths and prayers to the Potter family. Wes and Brenda Whetstone Lake Wales Florida"
On Monday, October 31, 2016, God blessed Daryl Potter with a holy death and took him home to rest in the arms of Jesus to await the resurrection of the dead. He was born an only child on July 22, 1930 in Chicago, IL to Harlow and Esther (Lee) Potter; which also happened to be his dad's 22 birthday. After living in Chicago for a short while, his family moved to the Winona area where he met the love of his life Beverly Viestenz. They were united in marriage on December 22, 1951. In January of 1951, Daryl enlisted in the Navy and was stationed in Rhode Island. Daryl and Beverly returned to Stockton in 1953 to raise their family and begin their life together. Together, they started the Stockton Valley Campground and mobile home park. In 1980, Daryl started Potter Construction and worked there until he retired and sold the business to his son Mark in 1993. Prior to starting his own business, he worked for Winona Excavating for 19 years. Daryl loved hunting, driving heavy equipment and playing in the dirt, traveling with Beverly to each of the 50 states, but most importantly his family. He enjoyed working in his meat house making sausage and teaching the trade to his sons. Daryl was a member of the American Legion for 63 years. Daryl is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Beverly; children, Doug (Pattie) Potter of Winona, Ron (Gwen) Potter of Ely, Mark (Renee) Potter of Stockton, Lee (Tammy) Potter of Stockton, Bruce (Kim) Potter of Lewiston, Pam Johnson of La Crosse, and Tricia (Rich) Walania of Paola, KS; 20 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 5 step-great-grandchildren; and a special cousin, Billy Brennan. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Roger; and grandsons, Andrew Walania and Kadin Harmening. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Grace Lutheran Church, Stockton, with the Reverend Matthew Lorfeld officiating. A visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Friday, November 4, 2016, at Hoff Celebration of Life Center, Goodview, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Bush Cemetery, Ridgeway, with military honors rendered by the Lewiston American Legion Post 90. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Grace Lutheran Church, Stockton. Hoff Celebration of Life Center, Goodview, is assisting the family.

"Bev and family:
You are all in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time of the loss of Daryl! When the Wendts and the Potters got together there was always lots of love, laughter, and fun! So many Shenanigans as well!?Mom and I were reminiscing yesterday about all the fun and fond memories we have of when we were all together! Also when she and Daryl grew up playing together, she mentioned the time they were playing and jumping on the bed until they spilled the chamber pot!? She has a locket that Uncle Harlow had given her years ago and she wanted you to see it and see the pictures she had put in at that time! I told her I had it covered I could send them to you so you could see it! We love you all and cherish the wonderful memories! Peace be with all of you at this difficult time! Psalm 34 : 18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart. ??'- Nehemiah 8 : 10 The JOY of the LORD is my strength! ??'- Love Your Kansas cousins ...Susie (Wendt),Jeff, and Scott Wolford; Eva Wendt(Aunt from Kansas)"

"Dear Bev and family, No words can express how sad I feel over the loss of Daryl. How Blessed I feel growing up spending almost every weekend with you ALL! I will forever cherish those memories! It was some of the happiest times in my life! I am so thankful you both took the time to come to both of my kid's Weddings here in Kansas to see us all! That meant a lot to us! I feel bad we haven't been able to get back to Minnesota to see everyone through the years. But, know, you ALL are in our hearts and prayers every day. I'm sad we won't be able to make for Daryl's Service. Our thoughts and prayers are with you All during this most difficult time! Love to All, John and Mary (Wendt) Hemmy and Family "

"Hugs to all the Potter family. He was a great man and we spent many years frowning up at their home by the trailer court. Sliding down the big hill, selling vegetables, and great parties. God bless you all."
"My thoughts and prayers are with you all."
"I will never forget standing on Chigger Point and hollering down the hill Happy Birthday " to Daryl. He was always kind to me and gave me permission to hunt on his property. He will be missed by many.
