Glenn Schellhammer
July 26, 1929 - November 5, 2016

Glenn Thomas Schellhammer, 87, the son of George and Minnie (Uren) Schellhammer was born on July 26, 1929 in Churchtown, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Churchtown and Lansing, Iowa graduating from Lansing High School in 1948. He attended The College of Mortuary Science in St. Louis, MO graduating in 1951.
Glenn was united in marriage to Margaret Snitker on April 1, 1950. They raised four children and resided in West Bend, Iowa for 52 years where Glenn and Marge owned and operated the Schellhammer Funeral Homes of West Bend, Mallard and Gilmore City. In 2005 they moved to Ames, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Schellhammer of Ames, Iowa; Diane (Bruce) Green of Chandler, AZ; Wayne (Jan) Schellhammer of Urbandale, Iowa; Barbara (Kevin) Maher of Milo, Iowa; and Vicki (Mike) Landtiser of Kansas City, MO. He is survived by 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Elsie Meyer of Edgewood, Iowa and Lila Wiepert of McGregor, Iowa. He is proceeded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Glenn enjoyed playing golf, fishing, gardening, playing pinochle and bridge, along with spending time with his family. He loved visiting with people and being of service to anyone he could help. He will be greatly missed, especially his kind heart.
A gathering of friends and family will be 4-6 pm Monday, November 7 at Grandon Funeral & Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way in Ames, Iowa with a 10:30 am Tuesday, November 8th funeral service at First United Methodist Church, 516 Kellogg, Ames, Iowa. A visitation will be held at Harris Funeral Home, 104 1st Avenue SW, West Bend, Iowa on Tuesday, November 8, 5-8 pm. Graveside Services will be held Wednesday, November 9 at 10:00 am at the West Bend Cemetery.
