Terry Lee Mains was born March 28, 1951, in Algona, Iowa, the son of Ellis and Evelyn (Crapser) Mains. He grew up in Algona where he also attended school and graduated from the Algona High School.
After his schooling he worked for a short time before he was drafted into the United States Army. He served in a tank division, stateside in Maryland. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Algona.
On September 17, 1983, Terry was united in marriage to DeVon "DeeDee" Walker in Algona. They lived in Algona where Terry worked several jobs and was most currently working at AI Processors in Whittemore. He thought of himself as a "Jack of all trades, master of none".
Terry enjoyed the time he was able to spend with his family, especially his children and grandson. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, riding his motorcycle and in the past working on race cars. He was a member of ABATE of Iowa and the American Legion.
Terry died Saturday, November 26, 2016, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. He was 65.
Survivors include, his wife, DeeDee Mains of Algona; daughters, Susan Mains and significant other, Paul LaPorte; Virginia Mains and fiancé, Daniel Lappe and grandson, John Mains of Algona; Kathleen Mains of Des Moines; father, Ellis Mains of Algona; siblings, Denny and Paula Mains of Algona; Ellen Mains of Algona; Charlie and Deb Mains of Des Moines; Randy Mains of Superior; Jimmy Mains of Algona and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Mains, a brother, Marc Mains and grandparents.
