In loving memory of

Awilda Maritza Marrero
November 16, 1966 - December 20, 2016

On November 16, 1966, Awilda Maritza Marrero was born in Manhattan, NY from her mother Deisy Tavarez and father Pedro Juan Carvajal. Awilda was the the oldest of four
siblings; Weylin, Arnal, Irka and Gabriel.

Awilda grew up in Passaic, NJ. Years later Awilda moved to Florida and at the age of 27 she met Jorge Marrero. Seven years later on November 26, 2000 they were married.
Awilda was Jorge's best friend and loving wife. On December 17, 2001 she gave birth to their daughter Alyssa Chasity Marrero whom she lovingly named "the baby".

While being a loving wife, mother and businesswoman, Awilda still made time to obtain a Bachelor's Degree from FAU and was working on an MBA. Awilda made sure to always be involved in every aspect of Alyssa's life. She always made time to read to Alyssa as well as travel and teach her about art and different cultures. Awilda attended all her softball games and even became a team mom. She always placed her family first. Awilda encouraged her daughter Alyssa to strive for success and to never give up on her dreams. Awilda will live on in all our hearts.

The family thanks you for your love and support.

"I had the pleasure of meeting Awilda 9 years ago in a off-site project meeting in Kanas. She was the first person among the project team to approach me a in friendly manner, strike up a meaningful conversation, and then joined me for a nice luncheon. I immediately developed a fond friendship over the remaining days we worked together. Since then, we would occasionally speak through the years via instant messaging or via phone call on business matters where our paths crossed. Awilda was an amazing leader and woman. She inspired me and I've never forgotten her warmth. May God's blessing be over her loved ones and family during this most difficult time. "

You inspired me to be a great mother, the way you were to Alyssa. When both my mother & daughter had open heart surgery, we both cried and told each other to stay strong. You were there for me and my family and it meant so much. You always cared about my growth and did everything you could to help. My heart is so heavy and I can't believe your gone. The last thing you said to me was to "take over Michigan", take care of Yanis and my husband Mike. I promise I will. Awilda, thank you for everything. You will forever be in my heart. "There are no words to describe the sadness and heartbreak for the tragic loss of such a beautiful person. Awilda was so petite, yet so fierce! She was larger than life, passionate about work, education and most importantly her family. She was a proud wife and mother, always sharing stories with her work family of Jorge and Alyssa's accomplishments. She will be remembered for so many things....her love of the color purple, Prince, hula hoop (she is the reigning hula hoop champion at Bristol West) and her dance moves. If you gave her the opportunity to dance, forget it!! She was a great travel companion, making sure we remained calm with her lavender oils. I feel blessed to have shared so many memories with her over the years. A great leader, a great mentor, a great listener and friend. My thoughts and prayers are with her entire family during this difficult time. "
