Doyle Brekke age 82, of Ames, Iowa died at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, on December 21, 2016. A gathering of friends and family will be from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27 at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care 414 Lincoln Way Ames with a 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, Celebration of life funeral service at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care. Burial will be at Story Memory Gardens in Ames.
Doyle was born in Roland, Iowa on March 28, 1934 the son of Earl and Ethel Brekke. He married Darlene Corbin in Ames on September 21, 1957. The couple lived in Des Moines for a while before returning to Ames where he was employed at Iowa Department of Transportation for over 35 years as an office equipment repair person. He also did equipment repair on the side. Doyle loved to keep his cars pristine, watch NASCAR, Dallas Cowboys, and the Hawkeyes.
Doyle is survived by his son, Tom (Sue) Brekke daughter, Jerri Dee Brekke (Charlie), grandchildren, Lisa Brekke, Shawn Brekke, Jason (Shannon) Sorenson, Angie (Jessie) Russell, great grandchildren, Makayla, Taylor and Sunny; sister, Gloria White, brothers, Gerald Brekke, Bruce Brekke half-sisters, Vicki Suby and Patti Langley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Darlene Brekke, son, Mark Brekke, step-mother, Phyllis Brekke, sister, Charlene Powelson, and half-sister, Diane Rhodes.
