Elaine was born to Reo and Thelma (Smith) Weeks on January 6, 1938 in Ogallala, NE. She attended school in Texas, before moving to Nebraska and graduating from Palmer High School in Palmer, NE. She was saved at an early age and attended many summer Bible camps at Maranatha Bible Camp, near North Platte, NE. She worked as a telephone operator until March of 1957. She met Don Curry at the Evangelical Free Church in Grand Island, NE, where he lived while he was attending business college in Grand Island. Elaine married Donald Curry on March 2, 1957 at the Evangelical Free Church in Grand Island. The couple moved to the Newcastle/Ponca area, farmed and were blessed with four children, Pam, Debbie, Rick and Keith. Elaine was a wonderful farm wife, milking cows by hand, crating sows, driving a two row corn picker, then two and four row combines. She disked about 1000 acres every spring the past several years of farming, and she rode horses with Don, too!
She was a member of the Ponca Evangelical Free Church, where she served faithfully, and the Gideons, where she helped to distribute free Bibles for many years
She was a loving wife and mother. She was very helpful, organized and neighborly. She enjoyed gardening and canning, and her flowers. She loved this time of the year, because she loved making things for Christmas. She was an excellent seamstress, crocheted afghans and baked all kinds of Christmas goodies to eat and share. She loved the Christmas season most because that's when she celebrated her Savior's birth.
Survivors include her husband, Don Curry of Ponca, NE; children, Pam (Wes) Jones of Nashville, TN, Debbie (Dave) Schultz of Lennox, SD, Rick (Denita) Curry of Fullerton, NE and Keith (Shelly) Curry of Davenport, IA; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, Rollin (Wendy) Weeks of Santa Barbara, CA, Jean Patchin of Central City, NE, Dottie (Rex) Beam of Alberta, Canada, Marilyn (Wes) Rowe of Central City, NE, Reo (Marilee) Weeks of Lincoln, NE, David (Delores) Weeks of Lincoln, NE and Robert Weeks of Vietnam; and brother-in-law, Harold Curry of Waterbury, NE.

"I am amazed at the number of times Elaine opened up her home to the whole Weeks clan. What a wonderful opportunity for a kid to be in that setting with so many cousins. So many fond memories of gathering eggs, playing in the hay loft, riding horses/Fudgy, and sitting around singing. At this stage in life I better understand the generosity and sacrifice that made those times possible. What a generous gift to us all!"
