ILLINOIS CITY, Illinois - Gary W. Crawford, 65, of Illinois City, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2016, at his home.
Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. The Reverend Hai Dinh will officiate. Burial will take place in Illinois City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Iowa Donor Network. Gary was born on January 23, 1951, in Fairfield, Iowa, the son of Dale Anthony and Ruth Lee Crawford. He had been a resident of the Quad Cities area since 1957. Ruth married James 'Bud' Whan in 1958, and together they raised Gary, Sandy, and Rod. He married Robin Gundrum on July 1, 1972, in Palmyra, Missouri.
He retired from Oscar Mayer after 32 years of employment. He enjoyed karate, hunting, fishing, boating, and was a great outdoorsman. He was on the Oscar Mayer bowling league, loved gardening, enjoyed building computers, and attending fish fry's. He was a member of the Andalusia Lions Club.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Robin Crawford of Illinois City; two daughters, Toni Krana and husband, Jon, of Buffalo, Iowa, and Carrie Urda and husband, Joe, of Bettendorf, Iowa; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Sandy Youngblood and husband, Donnie, of Rock Island.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale Crawford and Ruth and James 'Bud' Whan; and one brother, Rod Crawford.
