"We have all suffered a great loss with Jacob leaving us. I have so many good memories of him. Even before I went Europe over 40 years ago, our two families would make daytrips around the state. And when I would come from Europe to visit my family in Iowa, more often than not, one of the first people I would see at the airport would be the smiling face of Jacob. What a wonderful welcome that always was. And it was usually with some of his family in tow, an added treat. It wouldn't be too long before Mary Ann would say, "Jacob, we have to make a trip"! We "made a date", a bunch of us would pile into their motor home, and off we went. It was always a great time with lots of laughs. Now such fun times as are those are at an end. At least I have the memories and they are very precious indeed! I hope that Jacob knew how much he meant to people. I think he did. Perhaps that is one of the reasons he was always smiling: he made other people feel good! Jacob, you are sorely missed but it was a great privilege to have known you. We are all better for having known you. People that didn't get to meet you don't know what they missed. All i can say is: the loss is theirs. The world would be a much better place if there were more people like you. Bless you Jacob. You are in my heart, and always will be! Jerry Benning Berlin, Germany "

"I first met Jacob many years ago at my place of work. Since that time, he always had a friendly word whenever and wherever I saw him, and was one of the kindest people I have known. Rest in peace Jacob, you've gone on a journey before us. We'll see you at the end. Elaine Clemens."

Arnie Benning wrote on Dec 26, 2016:

"There really are no words to describe the friendship that Jacob and his family have had with ours. Countless times Jacob would visit with mom and dad while in their late stage of life. Jacob would often take dad to various appointments when I couldn't. We didn't ever have to ask, he just did it out of that friendship. I will always remember that smile he had, even when things maybe weren't so good at times. The good news though, is he is home with all those that have gone before and awaits all those that remain until their time comes. A good man, sadly missed. Arnie Benning"
