Edwin Henry Frerichs, son of Frederick and Elsa (Andresson) Frerichs, was born November 12, 1928 in Wallingford, Iowa. He attended country school near Graettinger. Ed enlisted in the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict.
On January 4, 1959, Ed was united in marriage to Hazel Elizabeth Baldwin at the United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg. The couple raised their family on the same farm where Ed was raised. Ed farmed and drove the milk truck for the Graettinger Creamery for many years. After farming, Ed began working at Don's Standard and continued to run the milk truck until the creamery closed. Ed retired from Shaver Manufacturing in Graettinger. The couple lived in the Graettinger area until moving to Laurens, Iowa in 2011.
Ed enjoyed tinkering with motors, farming, hunting, fishing and pulling pranks on his family and friends. He loved playing cribbage, watching his grand and great-grandchildren grow and spending time with all of his family. He will always be known for his favorite saying: "Little Hazel, I need some biscuits and gravy and some pumpkin pie."
