A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Siems Park, located 1 mile southeast of Whittemore, IA, on 200th Street.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the family.
Mark Steven Byrd was born April 23, 1965, to Rueben Ray and Helen (Thompson) Byrd in Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Mark was one of three children and was a graduate of Woodbridge high school, Woodbridge, VA.
On June, 14, 2003, Mark was united in marriage to Wendy (Green), McLean, Va. In 2010 the couple moved to Whittemore, Iowa and soon afterward Mark started working at Protein Resources in West Bend, IA.
Mark was a hard worker and enjoyed whatever time he had off to go fishing or hunting. He Received the Master Angler of Iowa award and competed in various fishing tournaments. Mark also enjoyed watching NASCAR, the Redskins, his favorite football team and many other sports. He was also the guy people went to if they wanted to know what the weather was going to be like, as he always watched the weather channel.
Mark S. Byrd, 51, of Whittemore, died as the result of an accident on Sunday, February 12, 2017, in Blue Earth, MN.
He is survived by his wife, Wendy Byrd; children, Ashley Byrd and her fiancé James Tarrant of Emmetsburg, IA, Scott (Melaura) Green of Woodbridge, VA, Joshua Green of Emmetsburg, IA, Thomas (Cassandra) Green of Clarion, IA, and Matthew Green of Whittemore, IA; granddaughter, Iris Abigail Elizabeth Ison and brother, Kenneth (Kathleen) Byrd of Fishersville, VA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Peggy Sue Byrd.
