Doris Mary Kaye
May 27, 1929 - March 11, 2017

Doris Mary (Gadzik- Kucharski) Kaye of Sarasota, Fl., formerly of Bristol, Ct and Longmeadow, Ma. passed away on March 11, 2017.
Daughter of Della and John Gadzik, born on May 27th, 1929 in Plymouth, Pa and raised in New Britain, Ct.

Doris spotted that handsome young sailor named, Eddie Kucharski (Kaye) near the Berlin train station following WWII, married him on July 2nd, 1949 and celebrated 55 years of marriage before his passing. A Bristol resident for most of her adult life she loved the small compound on Peacedale St, where she raised and enjoyed her family. She was a former telephone operator, #86, for SNET. As a retiree, she enjoyed travelling and shopping and single -handedly tried to keep D&L and Macy's in the black.

Doris has joined her husband Edward, who has been impatiently waiting for her arrival, her parents and her brother John, along with many loving family and friends.

Doris is survived by her sister Linda (Ron) Kotin and Diane Upright (Dave Finne) and her children, Debra Kaye (Bob Gershen), Eddie Kaye (Susan) Mickey Kaye (Allison) and Scott Kaye. Her grandchildren, Toby Kaye (Gina Guilmette), Corey Kaye, David Gershen (Ariana Klinkov) Jeremy Gershen, Jayme Gershen, Emily Gershen and Vivian Kaye, her great grandchildren Darian Guilmette (Cody Coleman) Sage Kaye, Benji Gershen, Kendra Kaye, and a great great granddaughter, Elliana Coleman.

Doris was affectionately known as Grandma "No No" by the first generation of grandchildren, and Grandma "You want it, You got it!" by the next.
A gathering of family and friends celebrating her memory will be held at a later date.


Doris's family would like to the thank the extraordinary staff at Heron House's Legacy Court and Tidewell Hospice for their caring and support during this long journey.
