Mildred Schmidt
February 22, 1917 - April 11, 2017

Mildred Schmidt, 100, of Titonka, died Tuesday at the Titonka Care Center.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Titonka. Visitation will be held one hour prior to funeral service.

Mildred Georgetta Kubalek was born in her home on February 22, 1917 in Elberon, Iowa, the daughter of Otokar and Karolina (Baresh) Kubalek. She attended a country school through the 8th grade. After, she went to work as a housekeeper and nanny. She moved to Fort Dodge for work and met her love, Frederick Schmidt.

On May 2, 1942, Mildred was united in Marriage to Frederick Schmidt in Estherville, Iowa. The two resided on a farm in rural Titonka, Iowa where they began their family. She took pride in being a mother and farm wife.

Mildred loved to cook and bake, spend time gardening, shopping, volunteering at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City, Iowa and volunteering in the ladies aid at her Church. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She loved going to her children and grandchildren's activities. She was a special person to many and never had a bad word to say about anyone.

Throughout her life, Mildred was a women of faith and active in her church. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Titonka. Later in life, Mildred enjoyed traveling around the world and taking an annual trip to Texas for some sunshine during the cold winter months with her daughter, Cindy.
Mildred died Tuesday April 11,2017 at the Titonka Care Center. She was 100.

She is survived by her three daughters; Jane Dixon of Henning, MN, Joan Blatt of Vancouver, Wa, Cynthia Beenken of Titonka; and grandchildren, Sarah (Travis) Dixon-Hackey, Robert (Zoe Verlaak) Blatt, Jessica (Roberto Arceo) Blatt, Shane (Hilary) Beenken and Dr. Kandice Beenken.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Frederick; infant son, Frederick Jr; one brother Oto; 3 sisters Rose, Blanche, and Emma; sons-in-law, John Dixon and David Beenken.
