Daniel "Dan" Storck
December 17, 1948 - April 7, 2017

Daniel "Dan" Storck age 68, of Cypress, TX. formerly of Ames died April 7, of an apparent heart attack.
A gathering of friends and family will be 4 - 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care 414 Lincoln Way Ames, with a 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, Mass of Christian Burial at St. Cecilia Catholic Church 2900 Hoover Ave. Ames. Burial will follow at Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Dan was born on December 17, 1948 in Storm Lake, Iowa the son of Max and Melvina Storck. He graduated from St. Edmond High School in Fort Dodge, IA and joined the U.S. Air Force and proudly served our country during Vietnam. Dan then attended Iowa Western Community College/Mercy Hospital and received a degree as a Radiology Technologist. Dan and Nancy (Carlsen) were married on September 4, 1971 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. On July 25, 1975 they welcomed their only son Jerod Daniel. The couple moved to Ames where Dan became an assistant director of radiology working For Mary Greeley Medical Center for over 30 years. Upon retiring from Mary Greeley Medical Center as the director, he would fill in at Iowa State University Student Health and McFarland Clinic. Dan was a lover of the outdoors he enjoyed golfing, fishing, and camping with friends and family. Dan was a member of Pheasants forever for years. Pheasant hunting was a hobby that started with his Dad that carried through to his son Jerod. He owned a few bird dogs that he trained and loved. But he was as comfortable with a camera and lens, as he was with a shotgun. Shooting many remarkable photos that he loved to share. In the fall of 2016 Dan and Nancy started their retirement years by moving closer to their son Jerod and his wife Rachel in the Houston, TX area. They were looking forward to warmer winters and spending time with their grandsons Haydon and Hunter.

Dan is survived by his wife, of 45 years Nancy Storck, his son and daughter in-law, Jerod and Rachel Storck grandsons, Haydon and Hunter, 3 sisters. Kathy Hanzek, Ellen Sullivan and Sharon Walker.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents.
