"will always remember John as an 18 year old from Lake Mohegan, my deepest condolences to the whole family."
John Christian Oswald, of Clifton Ave, Kingston NY, died Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Health Alliance Hospital, Broadway Campus in Kingston. Fifty-four years young, he was born July 23, 1959 in Brooklyn NY, the son of Ilse Loth Oswald and the late Johann Oswald. John was employed as an information technologist for Astor Family Services. He was an avid cyclist and a long standing member of the Cycle Club of Kingston. Always trying to improve his riding techniques, he rode with the Bike Brothers, and with the Little Jim group. John participated in the Tour De Kingston and The Great Big FANY bicycle ride annually. In addition, he volunteered his time and energy in support of local biking events. John loved swimming, hiking and photographing local area spots such as Olana. In addition to being a huge Genesis fan, he loved and appreciated experiencing music of all different genres. A life-long history buff, John read voraciously, relished learning about history, and enjoyed discussing the significance of historical events. He was blessed to leave this life doing what he loved: riding his bike on a perfect day. In addition to his mother of Pawling NY, John is survived by two sons, Erik and Jonathan Oswald, of New York City; a daughter, Elizabeth Oswald of Pleasant Valley, two sisters, Gloria M. Oswald of Everett, MA and Monica R. Summers (William) of New Fairfield, CT, and nephews, Derek and Brian Summers. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
