"Our hearts ache with the thought of Katrina passing on. She was very courageous in her battle against cancer- never giving up hope. Her life on earth was short lived but her beauty and peaceful nature will live with us forever!!! I'd like to share this poem with you and hopefully will give you some comforting thoughts to ponder. The butterfly evolves into an entirely different form during its lifecycle. It is no longer the same creature and it relates in a new way to its environment. If we think of this metamorphesis in terms of our Loved one, we will be comforted in realizing that life is not over, it has only changed. Katrina will always be in our hearts! L&S "

I thought, what a coincidence.. then I discovered many more coincidences with Katrina.. we were both dental hygienists and worked in Red Hook on the same street..My mother worked with her cousin, my husband worked with another connection to her, a niece on my daughter's swim team, other dental hygiensts that had worked with or for her...everywhere I went I ran into someone who knew Katrina. I will always remember her smile..her beautiful face, her quiet ways, her confidence that she would win her battle against this horrible disease.. how I wish she had..She put up a good fight..She was way to young. I miss her so much at our catechism meetings at church.. May you rest in peace Katrina, in our Heavenly Fathers arms.. and may God Bless her family. Cindy "

"I remember the summer that Katrina stayed with our family for a few weeks on Long Island. We had visited the LI Game Farm and my dad took her picture sitting on a bench under the "Lost Children" sign. The plan was to send the picture to her parents as a joke in that year's Christmas card. I don't know if they ever did. A few years ago I took my own sons to the game farm and wouldn't you know it that sign and bench were still there. My mom was with me and we both had a great laugh remembering our time with Katrina as we sat my boys there for a picture. Her boys and her family will be in my prayers."
