Caroline ''Kina'' Pekovitch Mills, 83, of Stone Ridge, died Tuesday morning, January 3, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 2, 1928 in Catskill, NY, the daughter of the late Matthew Pekovitch and Mary (Konopka) DiMuccio.
She was the wife of the late John P. Mills, who died on September 5, 1979.
Mrs. Mills was a graduate of Kingston High School, class of 1945 and the Benedictine Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1948. For many years she worked as a registered nurse in the Benedictine Hospital Intensive Care and Coronary Care Units. She had also been employed as a school nurse by Rondout Valley School District, Rosendale Elementary School and St. Peter's Parochial School in Rosendale.
She is survived by her children and their spouses whom she loved as her own, Dr. Catherine M. Mills and her husband Dr. Jonathan Posin of San Francisco, CA., Patricia M. Merwin of Soldotna, AK, John P. Mills, Jr and his wife Nancy of Monroe Township, NJ, Thomas Mills and his wife Melissa of Red Hook, NY and William P. Mills and his wife Rachell of West Orange, NJ, her siblings, Bunny Stuart of Ruby, Richard DiMuccio of Vero Beach, FL and John DiMuccio of St. Remy, her aunt, Agnes Konopka, grandchildren, Josh, Ben and Kina Merwin, Mike, Joe, Sammy, Jonni and Ethan Mills and great grandchildren, Abigail, Lillian and Ellis Merwin, and Cole Mills. She was predeceased by a sister, Frances Bidwell.
Entrusted to the care of Eric Keyser, Keyser Funeral Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401 where family may call on Thursday from 4 - 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10am at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Rosendale. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Catskill.
