KEOTA-Viola M. Adam, age 89, of Keota, died Wednesday, October 11, 2006, at the Maplewood Manor in Keota, following a brief illness. Viola was born September 11, 1917, in rural Harper, to Michael and Bertha (Peiffer) Adam and received her education in Lafayette Center and St. Mary Catholic Schools. She was an Assistant Cashier and Vice President at Farmers Savings Bank in Keota for 45 years, retiring in 1987. Viola lived in the Harper and Keota communities until 1985, when she moved to Washington. She then returned to Keota and became a resident at Maplewood Manor in 2000. Viola was a member of St. James Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society and was a former member of the W.R.C. Survivors include two sisters: Martha Bryson of Spencer and LaVera Brown and husband Richard of Oakland, California; one brother: Alfred Adam and wife Janette of Loveland, Colorado; three sisters-in-law: Kathleen Duwa of Washington, Eveline Adam of Keota and Mary June Adam of Washington; several nieces and nephews and one aunt: Lorena Redlinger of Keota. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Paul, Earl and Leo; one brother-in-law: Gene Bryson and one nephew: Bob Bryson. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2006, at the Holy Trinity Parish-St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota with Rev. Marty Goetz officiating. Burial will be at Holy Trinity Cemeteries-St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 13, 2006, at the Powell Funeral Home in Keota, where the family will be present from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 on Friday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for St. James Catholic Church or Holy Trinity Parish-St. Mary Catholic Church. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is handling the arrangements.
