In loving memory of

Mildred (Leverenz) Schreiber
May 16, 1912 - April 4, 2010

Mildred (Leverenz) Schreiber was born on May 16, 1912, in Springfield Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota (Pats Grove) to the late Hans Peter and Elizabeth (Paulsen) Nelson. She was the thirteenth child of the family and was baptized in 1912 in Springfield Township and later confirmed on November 30, 1941, at the American Evangelical Lutheran Church in Windom. Mildred received her education in the Windom Public Schools.

On December 15, 1930, Mildred was united in marriage to Fred "Fritz" W. Leverenz in St. James, Minnesota. Three children blessed their home, John, Ruth and Darrel. Fritz passed away in July of 1973. After his death, Mildred continued to live in Windom and on October 27, 1990, she was united in marriage to Jack Schreiber. Jack's children were very dear to Mildred. Jack's children included Jack, Marceline and Bill. Jack passed away on March 14, 1994. After Jack's death, Mildred continued living in Windom and traveled for five years with Ruth and Larry down south. Mildred's health had been declining and became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society-Sogge Memorial in Windom where she passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, April 4, 2010, at the wonderful age of 97.

Through the years, Mildred worked in several different places which included Willow Lake Farms, wallpapering/painting for others, the Wolf's Store and for the Windom Area High School where she worked in the laundry room and cleaned until 1977 when Mildred retired.

Mildred was a past member of the American Lutheran Church in Windom and Living Word in Windom. She also was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and a member of Pinnacle/Bridge clubs. She also was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother who had many enjoyments in life which included cooking and playing cards.

Grateful for having shared her life are her three children, John Leverenz of Apache Junction, AZ; Ruth Smith and her husband, Larry, of Windom; Darrell Leverenz and his wife, Shirley, of Emmetsburg, Iowa; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; two step-children, Marce Dillion and Bill Schreiber and his wife, Carol; one step-daughter-in law, Sally Schreiber; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Mildred is preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Fred Leverenz and Jack Schreiber; twelve brothers and sisters; one grandson, Brian Leverenz; great-grandson, Marcus Behrends; and one step-son, Jack Schreiber.

Blessed be the memory of Mildred (Leverenz) Shreiber.

"It was with great sadness to learn that my Aunt Mildred has died. She was the last of the 13 children in the H.P. Neilsen family - most of whom lived long and wonderful lives. She will missed by the hundreds of relatives she leaves behind, she knowing practically each of them by name. She is gone, but her spirit will live on within our family and her many friends. "
