Conrad Jul Fiederer peacefully left Mother Earth early on the morning of July 6th, 2017, as the Seattle sun shone through the window onto his face, and his family and friends held him in their hearts. Conrad was born on May 14, 1943, at Lutheran Hospital in Brooklyn, New York, to parents Agnes M. and August E. Fiederer, immigrants from Norway and Germany, respectively. He grew up in Canoga Park in the San Fernando Valley of California, and later lived in various locations near Los Angeles, California. Conrad moved to Seattle in 1989, and remained in the Puget Sound region until his passing. He is survived by nephew Jeff Fiederer, his wife Eva, and their daughter Kaitlyn; nephew Eric Fiederer and his wife Julie; nephew David Fiederer; and former sister-in-law April Jo Rogers-Stone. Conrad's hundreds of dear friends also remember and cherish him deeply.
From childhood on, Conrad explored the natural world with gusto and a great sense of awe, mischief, and adventure. He loved his friends, his pets, music, books, good food, and nature with his whole heart! Anything Conrad did, he did incredibly well, and the list of his talents is long and varied: gardening, jewelry-making, woodworking, building, ceramics, painting, photography, baking, cooking, engineering, rock climbing, backpacking, spelunking, kayaking, and connecting people.
A celebration of life will be held for Conrad in Seattle on August 19, 2017. Contact Darcey at conrad4@comcast.net for forthcoming details. Donations may be made in Conrad's memory to Skagit Audubon Society, Northwest Seaport, and Northwest Folklife.
