Kenneth Sherman Richart
August 9, 1928 - July 24, 2017

Mr. Kenneth Sherman Richart, 88, of Burlington died at 10:40 a.m. Monday, July 24, 2017, at Fort Madison Community Hospital.
Born August 9, 1928 in Vinton, he was the son of Myron M. and Alice Loraine (Allen) Richart. On May 25, 1950 he married Bonnie Bergdahl in Vinton. She preceded him in death on April 24, 2006.
Mr. Richart was a Korea Army veteran serving at the rank of Tech Sgt. He was a safety engineer for 42 years for One Becon of Washington, Illinois, retiring in 1996.
Mr. Richart was a volunteer at the Hospice House and was a member of the Animal Protection League and the American Legion.
Survivors include his brother, James Allen Richart of Wever, one nephew, Allen Michael "Mike" Richart of New London and three nieces, Denise Kay Plakke of Holland, Michigan, Mary Ann Delzell of Burlington and Karen Margery Burch of Littleton, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
The memorial funeral service for Mr. Richart will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 28th, at Shinar Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Shane McCampbell officiating. Inurnment will follow in Shinar Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct Military Rites.
A memorial has been established for the Animal Protection League.
IMPORTANT: Pleasant Grove Road is closed, so it will be necessary to get to the church and cemetery via Danville Road.
