Marilyn Ione Schulz
February 10, 1923 - April 15, 2010

Marilyn I. Schulz, 87, longtime resident of Rochester passed peacefully at Season's Hospice House in the company of family members in the early morning of Thursday, April 15, 2010.Marilyn was born February 10, 1923, in St. Paul, MN to Ralph and Lillian (Fieck) Thielbar. As a young woman, she worked in the family-owned grocery store located in Douglas, MN. Marilyn graduated from Rochester High School, then worked as a keypunch operator prior to her marriage to Hans J. Schulz on June 16, 1956.Marilyn enjoyed 54 years as a loving wife and homemaker. She was a loving, caring mother and grandmother as well as an excellent cook. Marilyn was skilled in food preservation; both canning and freezing. She enjoyed baking; made a most excellent lemon meringue pie and always had a smile to go along with the tapioca pudding.Marilyn is survived by her husband, Hans J. Schulz of Rochester; her son, Tom Schulz of Blaine, MN; her daughter, Judy Brunsgaard of Rochester; a grandson, Jeff (Stacy) Brunsgaard of Fridley, MN; her nephew Jon (Julie) Hanson of Rochester; two great nieces, Paula (Scott) Melver of Preston; and Tami (Dave) Timbeross of Rochester.Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Lillian Thielbar; her sister, Janice A. Hanson; and her niece, Karen Erickson.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, April 19, 2010 at Peace United Church of Christ, 1503 2nd Avenue NE, Rochester, MN.Visitation will be held at Peace United Church of Christ one hour prior to the memorial service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 19, 2010.Committal and burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, 41 Seventh Avenue NE, Rochester, MN, immediately following the memorial service. Food and refreshments will be served at Peace United Church of Christ following the committal ceremony at Oakwood Cemetary.
