Roger M. Klimpel
April 12, 1939 - July 5, 2010

Rochester- A Celebration of Life will be held for Roger M. Klimpel, age 71, on Saturday, July 10th at 11:00 A.M. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes' Chapel. Visitation will be on Friday evening from 4:00P.M.-7:00P.M. and on Saturday from 10:00 A.M.-11:00AM at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home.Memorials are requested to Donors Choice. Burial at a later date will be in Minot, North DakotaRoger passed away suddenly in his sleep on July 5th.Roger Milton Klimpel was born in Minot, North Dakota on April 12, 1939. He grew up in Minot and graduated from High School there. As a young man he worked as a pipe fitter for utilities in the Oil Fields, and then served in the National Guard. On August 30, 1964 he married Jackie Monson in Williston, North Dakota. He graduated from Valley City State College in 1967 and received his Masters Degree from the U of ND Grand Forks in 1971. He moved to Rochester in 1971 and taught History at Mayo High School from 1971-1976. In 1976 he became the Director of Alternate Programs for the Rochester School District. He received his Education Specialist Degree from Winona State University in 1981. He was a member of Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society in Education and was recognized for Achievements in History by Phi Alpha Theta in 1971. He retired in 2000.Roger enjoyed hunting deer and phesants in North Dakota, reading, spending time with friends and relatives, telling tall tales, and traveling. He visited all 50 states and spent winters in Green Valley, Az.He was a life member of the Elks Club.Roger is survived by his wife, Jackie; a daughter, Tanya Klimpel Powers (Don) of Lake Elmo, MN; a sister, Virginia Walsh (Duane) of Eau Claire, WI; a brother, Tom Klimpel (Sandy) of Diamond Springs, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
