A memorial service for Velma L. Buske, 85, a longtime resident of Rochester, MN, will be at 11:00 am on Friday, September 17, 2010 at Homestead United Methodist Church with the Rev. Becky Jo Thilges officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and also 1 hour prior to the service at the church. It was her wish to donate her body to the Mayo Clinic and burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester at a later date.Velma Loraine Chapman was born on March 14, 1925 in Claremont, MN to Philo and Katherine (Hanna) Chapman. She died on September 11, 2010 at Sunrise Cottages.Velma graduated from Rochester High School and married Phillip Buske on May 13, 1945 in Rochester, MN. Velma was a supervisor in the imprinting department at Mayo Clinic, retiring after 37 years.Velma was a member of Homestead United Methodist Church. She enjoyed her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren, cooking, Bingo, and volunteering at the church.Survivors include 3 sons, Tom (Lori) Buske, Jim (Twanna) Buske and Chuck (Margaret) Buske, all of Rochester, MN; 8 grandchildren, Katina, Ryan, Tavanna, Chelsie, Dane, Sarah, Katie and Brandon; 6 great grandchildren sister, Laura Meyers of Scottsdale, AZ and 1 brother, Richard (Doreen) Kreps of Rochester, MN. Velma was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, Phillip on June 23, 1993, and 1 sister.Memorials can be directed to the family.
