ROCHESTER - Marjorie (Marnie) A. Shedd, 89, of Rochester died peacefully in her sleep December 4, 2010 at her home.Marnie was born June 18, 1921 in Rochester, to Dennis and Alberta (Gillies) Holt.She attended the University of Minnesota and played violin for the Rochester Symphony Orchestra.She married William Edmund Shedd III on November 1, 1943 at Calvary Episcopal Church. He preceded her in death February 2, 2002.Marnie enjoyed reading, her needlepoint and Bridge groups, and growing orchids. She was very interested in the history of Rochester and loved spending time with family and friends.Survivors include her sister, Gloria Johnson of Rochester; four children: a daughter, Rebecca (Bruce) Kruger of Kasson, three sons, William Shedd of Fort Collins, Colorado, Robert (Becky) Shedd of Minneapolis and James Bradley Shedd of Rochester; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.A memorial service was held by her family at Charter House on Monday, December 6.Memorials may be sent to St. Luke's Episcopal Church or the Mayo Hospice Program.
