Rochester, MN - James Hiram Potter, 76, the only son of Robert and Nina Potter, was born on December 6, 1934 in Granite Falls, MN. He passed away on January 2, 2011 at home after a lengthy illness of Parkinson's Disease.He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of 53 years, and two sons: the oldest, Charles and his wife, Bonnie, and their two daughters, Lauren and Abbey; and the youngest son, Donald.He graduated from high school in Granite Falls in 1952 and then served in the United States Army for two years before starting work at the Granite Falls Tribune. He also worked at the Brookings, SD Register and in Denver at the Gates Rubber Co. print shop before coming to the Rochester Post Bulletin in 1970. He retired in 2002.Over the years he enjoyed motorcycling, gardening, traveling, and being with family and friends.A memorial service will be held on January 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rochester Convenant Church (4950 - 31st Ave NW) with the Reverend Herb Frost officiating.
