Rochester- A Memorial Service for Lois W. Bartz, 88 who died on Tuesday, January 11th at St. Marys Hospital, will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 26th, 2011 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Behnken officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00A.M. On Saturday the 26th until the time of Service. Memorials in lieu of flowers are requested to the family.Lois Winifred Gaffron was born November 15, 1922 to Fred and Irma ( Claybaugh) Gaffron in Manchester, MN. She married Harry L. Bartz August 12, 1946 in Rochester, Mn. And has lived here ever since. She worked at the Mayo Clinic as a Medical Abstractor for 33 years, retiring in 1984. Her husband worked as a purchasing agent for the Rochester Methodist Hospital. He died in 1987.Lois was an active member of Peace United Church of Christ where she was a member of the Senior Saints. She was a member of the Rochester Senior Citizens, the Methodist Hospital Auxiliary and the Mayo Clinic Friendship Club. Lois was a world wide traveler. She had a green thumb when it came to her house plants and flowers, and she loved her pets.Lois is survived by a son, Harry Bartz Jr. (Linda) of Balsam Lake, Wisconsin; stepdaughters, Florence Farnham of Duluth, MN and Lavonne Haglund of Brooklyn Park, MN; 2 grandchildren, Dr. Peter J. Bartz (Alicia) Milwaukee, Wisc and Polly S. Bartz of Winona, MN; great grandchildren, Maddie, Sam and Ella Bartz, and also numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; a sister, Iola (Mrs. Leonard) Brezina of Neenah, Wisc.; and a brother, Bernard Gaffron (Norma) of New Brighton, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
