Bernard "Bernie" P. Buchholtz
March 25, 1911 - May 3, 2011

Rochester- Bernard (Bernie) P. Buchholtz, age 100, formerly of Goodhue, MN. Passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2011 about 4 P.M. At the residence of Barbra and Jerry Rutgers in Rochester. He had been living with the Rutgers since January of 2009.
He was born March 25, 1911 and grew up and worked on the family farm near Goodhue, MN. In 1942 after the start of WW II he was an instructor for the Army Air Force in Northfield, MN and later was stationed in England with the 8th Air Force for the remainder of the war. After his discharge in 1944 he farmed for several years with his brother Henry. Later he became a watchmaker/Clock Repair man. Most people will remember him as a watchmaker in the Goodhue, MN. area. He lived on the family farm until just before his 98th birthday. He celebrated his 100th Birthday on March 25, 2011. He especially enjoyed piloting airplanes, fishing and traveling.
He is survived by a nephew, Henry G. Eyrich; and great Nieces and nephews, Dr. Thomas G. Eyrich, Elizabeth A. Eyrich, Julie A. Eyrich, Barbra D. (Eyrich) Rutgers, David Reitmann, Dr Jane (Reitmann) Kass-Wolff and Ann(Reitmann) Schatzkin; 11 great-great nieces and nephews; and 3 great-great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mattie (Quast) and John Henry Buchholtz; sisters, Clara R. (Eyrich) Drenckhahn, Emma Rader, Mary Reitmann, Mathilda Larson, Elvina Buchholtz; brother, Henry Buchholtz; and a nephew, Dr. John H. Reitmann.
Bernard's funeral will be 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 7th 2011 at St Luke's Lutheran Church, 308 1st Ave. in Goodhue, MN. with Rev. Mike Gustafson officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Goodhue. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday morning from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.
