Rev. George Hanusa wrote on Jul 27, 2011:

"My deepest sympathy to you, Jane's family members. When I was on the staff of Lutheran Social Service of Iowa (I retired from there in  1997), I had the privilege of getting to know both Jane and Dudley, visiting them first in their Clear Lake home, and later at Charter House in Rochester. They were both gracious people and Jane was the consumate hostess.  She and I enjoyed good conversations, often about her dear family. I think Libbey was the only one I actually met personally, but felt I knew all three of you daughters. God be with you in this time of loss. Rev. George Hanusa"

Marsha Hayles Schieber wrote on Jul 24, 2011:

"Thank you for the call to let me know that your mother had passed away. I shared the sad news with the extended family this morning on our daily e-mail and included pictures of our mothers together. What friends they were! One of my cousins commented on how much he enjoyed spending time with her when he visited Rochester to play cards with Mayme and Jane. Jane always laughed at Mayme and took her ribbing with grace and goodness. She was a good sport about everything and was kind to us all. My kids loved the Jane and Mayme show as much as I did. And I will always appreciate your mother's faithful friendship to Mayme in her final days. She sat by her side holding Mayme's hand for hour on hour. As I wrote my family this morning, their friendship can serve as a reminder to us all that you are  never too old to find a new and true friend. I am thankful for both our mothers, thankful they had each other, and thankful they can be together again now. Our thoughts and love are with you all, Marsha"
