David A. Smith, 70, died on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
David was born in Rochester on July 11, 1941 to Grant and Gladys (Berg) Smith. He proudly served in the U.S. Marines from 1959 to 1963. David married Amelia Radke on June 28, 1968 in Rochester. He was a member of the American Legion. David enjoyed fishing and hunting.
David is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Parkhurst, of Rochester; five siblings, Arlene Woodruff, of Tennessee, Jean Stelter, of Arkansas, Randy Smith, of Arkansas, Mary Radke, of Rochester, and Rod Smith, of Monticello, MN; and four grandchildren, David and Dana Parkhurst, of Preston, Danielle Smith, of Rochester, and Bryce Edwards, of Nebraska.
David is preceded in death by his parents; a son, James; a brother, Gary; and a mother-in-law, Doris Hieb.
A Celebration of David's Life will be held from 1-4 PM on Sunday December 4th at the Rochester American Legion 315 1st Avenue NW.
